De dolende Nederlander

Het eerste bericht dat ik gisteren ontving van de Daily Mail betreft het bezoek van Prins William en echtgenote aan Wolverhampton  “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went head-to-head in table tennis and got up close and personal with a chameleon on an action-packed day of engagements in Wolverhampton. Kate, 39, looked elegant in a £380 Tory Burch polka dot blouse and wide-leg trousers as she joined William, 38, at three community organisations helping children and young people with their mental health. The first stop was The Way Youth Zone, a state-of-the-art facility that offers activities and support for young people, where Kate and William got their hands dirty planting flower pots. Sporty Kate looked in her element as she tried her hand at archery, while William couldn’t resist showing off his football skills. Later the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Base25, which provides vital services like anger management courses and counselling to young people, before rounding off the day at HugglePets in the Community, which uses animal encounters to help tackle children’s mental health issues like anxiety and depression. The Duchess of Cambridge beamed as she held a chameleon and Gus the guinea pig alongside children from a local primary school. The engagements are all part of William and Kate’s efforts to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.  It came as Prince Harry blasted Prince Charless’ parenting as he poured his heart out to a US mental health podcast and said he moved to California with his family to ‘break the cycle’ of ‘pain’ he suffered as a member of the Royal Family and needed to ‘change that for my own kids’.”

Na dit te hebben vastgesteld las ik “Tony Blair warns Labour destroyed woke Left By James Tapsfield, Political Editor For Mailonline Published: 09:18 BST, 12 May 2021 | Updated: 13:49 BST, 12 May 2021 Tony Blair railed at ‘woke’ culture today as he admitted he is ‘not sure what you can say’ about many topics. The former PM made the frank confession as he warned that Labour risks being destroyed by its refusal to stand up to perceived political correctness. Mr Blair was discussing mental health with his ex-spin chief Alastair Campbell on ITV’s Good Morning Britain when he made the comments. ‘I am afraid I am of an age where I am now terrified if I talk about any of these subjects that I am going to say something that I should not say,’ he said. When presenter Susanna Reid intervened to say it felt ‘like a minefield‘, Mr Blair said: ‘It is a minefield on virtually everything. If you are of a certain generation you are not sure what you can, what you can’t say, whether you can make a joke about something.’  The remarks came after Mr Blair delivered a scorching assessment of Labour’s condition, saying it needs ‘total reconstruction’ and Sir Keir lacks a ‘compelling economic message’. The leader’s failure to ‘clarify’ a cultural message also means the party is being ‘defined by the ”woke” Left’, according to Mr Blair. The verdict, in an article for Labour bible the New Statesman, came as Sir Keir desperately tries to stabilise after a disastrous set of elections and a botched reshuffle. The latest YouGov polling has given Sir Keir a net rating of minus 48, with two-thirds of voters saying he is doing badly. It is even worse than the minus 40 Jeremy Corbyn was recording at a similar point in the last parliament – before Boris Johnson secured his historic Commons majority. Angela Rayner has risked fuelling raging infighting by admitting to ‘robust’ discussions with Sir Keir, who tried to sack her last week before backing down and offering her a more high-profile job. Meanwhile, Ed Miliband went on the airwaves to defend Sir Keir this morning and suggested he supported calls for a more left-wing agenda.”

Ik denk dat ik nu begin te begrijpen waarom een paleiswacht van Kensington Palace mij op 22 april 1997 vroeg “Are you the new Prime Minister?”
